Semester 2, Start!

An exciting new semester is upon us, and all of us hear at the kendo club are excited for its inception. We hope that most of you are prepared for practice as soon as the semester starts again.

Events This Semester

Sadly we never got to post all of what we wanted this semester. I'll try to be more punctual with the updates on the website. However, even despite slow updates to the website, rest assured the club is as productive as ever. Though practice ended officially with the break, those of us still left in Cleveland often joined the Cleveland club with their practices.

Speaking of which, there are several important events this semester. Starting in February, as soon as we become more settled, the Detroit tournament will take place. We thus hope to have most of the new members in bogu by the beginning of January in order to be ready to compete in January. The next month will be an unofficial tournament at Rutgers University. Members will have to pay their own way probably, though it will be worth our while to go because in reciprocation, in April, we have our own tournament! The annual Cleveland tournament, one of the biggest in the Midwest. We hope to bring in many schools including Rutgers.

Aside from that of course are the normal bi-weekly joint practices at CSU/Adelbert Gym and once monthly OSU practices. Also officer elections are at the end of the year.

BreakWe hope everyone had a restful break. Speaking of which, we're hoping to have several more sets of bogu back after the break ends. Practice starts promptly at 8:30 PM as per usual on Tuesdays. And since it is the first day back, we expect you to attend if you can.

Cleveland Kendo, now with fewer roaming charges Cleveland Kendo has moved to a new location at the Mendel Jewish center in Beachwood, OH. Though we are no longer officially part of the Cleveland club, Case Kendo as ever reamins close in its ties to it. Please thank Neil Adelman if you see him for all his hard work. Best of luck Cleveland!

Case/Cleveland/CSU Kendo Winter Party This weekend the 26th, the entirety of the Cleveland area kendo clubs (which include Case, Cleveland and CSU) will have their annual holiday party... except late. So instead we'll have the winter party! More on this as it happens

Peter the mighty As you may have heard by now, at the Johnson cup, Peter was able to defeat Rich-sensei in a team fight. Good job Peter! Let's strive to work harder this semester so that we can all acheive something of this calibur.

Adventures in Bogu We hope to have Dmitri and Lily in bogu soon. So if you're a member of kendo, and currently inactive, please come back quickly so that you may also be ready for bogu. As of current, Chris is our newest member to wear the armor.

Summary of last semester After Chicago, the next tournament we attended was the West Point tournament, at which we did well at, but not as well as we could have. Though Case did not represent themselves at the Thompson cup, several of us went with Cleveland. In the end, we held about 30 practices in total in the semester.
