Recruitment
What is Recruitment?
Recruitment at CWRU is an opportunity for potential new members and
sorority sisters to meet each other.
This spring, formal recruitment will be held on
January 24, 25, 31, and February 1.
Why Go Greek?
There are many benefits to joining a Greek organization:
Social: Sororities offer its members fun ways to
meet other people, and hang out with other greek organizations. Though
the social aspects of greek organizations tend to be highlighted in
both positive and negative manners, sororities and fraternities offer
more than just parties and socials.
Service: organizations have regular service events
to help the community and other philanthropic groups.
Friendship: Greek communities offer strong
friendships between members. Being in a sorority is truly a bonding
experience, and those friendships made between members are lifelong.
Ritual: The bond of frienship is strengthened by the
common ground of ritual. Rituals are beautiful and unique to each
sorority - these rituals are the same ones that members 130 years ago
performed - and it is these rituals that allow sisters to recognize
that there is a commonality and equality between each sister.
Opportunities: By being a member of a sorority, you
open a flowing tap of opportunities in the professional world. Job
searches are greatly aided by the fact that your older sister may be
working at a company where you want to work, making it much easier for
you to obtain interviews and find out about job openings.
Leadership: Beyond offering "connections," having
offices in a sorority (like public relations chair, service chair, or
president, etc.) strengthens an individual's ability to manage time,
assume responsibilities, and interact with others.
Joining a sorority can never take away from your college experience -
it can only add to it. The amount you take from being a sister is
directly related to how much you offer your organization. Regardless,
joining a greek organization is a unique and amazing experience. We
invite you to meet us during Recruitment!
- A sorority is more than letters on a sweatshirt, I say.
- More than traditional songs, a gold pin, rituals,
and obligation,
or a way of life. - A sorority is learning about people,
- a sorority is giving without expecting a return.
- A sorority is earning respect from others, as well as for yourself.
