Walkathon, Spring 2009

Philanthropy and Beta go hand in hand. As a chapter, we dedicate much of our time to help the community around us. In the 2008-2009 school year, we completed 338% of our Greek Life required hours. This percent was above all other fraternities and sororities. We also raised close to $3000 various philanthropic causes as well. More than two-thirds of that total came from our annual philanthropy event, the Steven P. Arnold Walk-athon.

Going on 25 years, Walk-athon raises money for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland. The purpose is to raise awareness of the disease. We unfortunately lost a dear brother, Steven P. Arnold, to the disease. He did not know he had it. Since 1986, we've worked against what killed Steven, and in the process, have raised more than $50,000 dollars for the cause.

A big part of all the philanthropy and community service we do is having fun. Helping other people is a blast! We go all around the campus and the city building, painting, dancing, and whatever else helps out. We do everything from Habitat for Humanity to synchronously swimming for a sorority’s fundraiser.
