Gamma Chapter holds a rush/pledge period every semester, which lasts approximately eight weeks. During rush, fun, free events are held frequently to allow interested individuals to mingle with current brothers. Whether going tobogganing or simply enjoying some free pizza in the chemistry building, this time is not only enjoyable, but functional as well.

At the end of rush, Gamma Chapter extends bids to those individuals who have shown interest in pledging. Those that accept the bids then go through the seven week pledge period which explores the foundations and ideals of the fraternity. This serves as a time for the current brothers and pledges to build fellowship and grow as a fraternity.

Annually, CWRU holds a regional Science Olympiad competition that is geared toward exposing middle school and high school students to the world of science. As a group dedication to the advancement of chemistry, AXE does a significant amount of work in preparing and running Olympiad events to ensure a fun, fair, and educational competition. This year, AXE was able to not only help run several chemistry-related events, the chapter was also key in helping coordinate the competition as a whole! CWRU Gamma Chapter of AXE also volunteers frequently and the Great Lakes Science Center, located in Cleveland, Oh. The center is aimed at exploring the world of science in interesting ways and Gamma Chapter is proud to help. Previous events have included making liquid nitrogen ice cream or borax slime and explaining how chemistry is a part of everyday life to children. This service project is always gratifying for the chapter members and fun for the kids, making it a great way for AXE to promote chemistry!
