Faculty work with children of the world to be topic of panel
discussion set for Nov. 30

A panel discussion, “Cleveland women making a difference for the world’s
children,” will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Ford Auditorium
of the Allen Memorial Medical Library in conjunction with the Changing the
Face of Medicine: Celebrating America’s Women Physicians traveling exhibit
at the library.
Nine women pediatricians from the Case Western Reserve University School of
Medicine and University Hospitals of Cleveland’s Rainbow Babies and
Children’s Hospital will present the work of the Rainbow Center for
Global Child Health and share their personal experiences in global pediatrics
education, research and service, focusing on pediatric disaster management
and disaster relief. Presenters will include Drs. Karen Olness, Marisa Herran,
Barbara Baetz-Greenwalt, Mary Hellerstein, Anna Mandalakas, Denise Bothe,
Eva Holsinger and Arlene Dent.
Two poster presentations will provide additional insight into the center's
achievements and the lives of individual team members. Also featured will
be a video interview of Olness, director of the center, who is recognized
nationally and internationally as an expert and a leader in the field of global
child health.
