Author and Weatherhead professor Richard Boyatzis to speak on resonant leadership

Richard Boyatzis

Richard Boyatzis, professor of organizational behavior at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management, will discuss his newly released book Resonant Leadership in a sold-out lecture Monday, November 14 and a second lecture Monday, December 5. Both lectures will begin at 7:30 a.m. and take place in the George S. Dively building, 11240 Bellflower Road on the Case campus.

The lecture, titled "Resonant Leadership: Creating Sustainable Leaders through Mindfulness, Hope and Compassion" is part of a series of breakfast programs presented by Weatherhead faculty taking place throughout the academic year sponsored by the public accounting and consulting firm Crowe Chizek.

In the book Resonant Leadership, Boyatzis and co-author Annie McKee discuss the cycle of stress and sacrifice that often leads intelligent, compassionate and well-meaning leaders into disaster. Boyatzis and McKee maintain that leaders must engage in renewal and rejuvenation in order to remain resonant -- attuned to the needs of those around them and able to effectively lead. Boyatzis and McKee draw on their combined decades of research and consulting to demonstrate the role that mindfulness, hope and compassion play in enhancing a leader's effectiveness by renewing energy and strengthening professional and business relationships. The book serves as a sequel to their best-selling earlier work, Primal Leadership: Realizing the Power of Emotional Intelligence written with Daniel Goleman.

The lectures cost $30 to attend and are open to the public. Pre-registration is required. To register or obtain more information call (216) 368-6413, or visit www.weatherhead.case.edu/breakfast.
