Weatherhead School of Management ranked highly in two new worldwide surveys of business schools

The Executive M.B.A. (EMBA) program at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management ranks among the elite of such programs worldwide, according to a new survey in the prestigious Financial Times newspaper, while a separate survey finds the Weatherhead School is a leader in emphasizing social and environmental responsibility in its curriculum.

The Financial Times ranks the Weatherhead School ninth in the U.S. and 21st in the world among EMBA programs, while the Beyond Grey Pinstripes survey places the school number 23 among business schools for making social and environmental stewardship part of its curriculum.

"We are very pleased to be recognized by the Financial Times and Beyond Grey Pinstripes," said Myron Roomkin, dean and Albert J. Weatherhead III Professor of Management. "We are proud of our innovative EMBA program and the degree to which we have made concepts like sustainability and corporate responsibility a part of our curriculum. These rankings are a tribute to the hard work and creativity of our faculty and staff."

Last year the Financial Times ranked Weatherhead's program 20th in the U.S. and 40th worldwide.

The paper surveyed alumni of EMBA programs who graduated in 2002 to evaluate the programs in three broad areas: the career progress of their alumni, the diversity of faculty and students and the international experience offered by the school, and the school's intellectual output and research.

The Weatherhead School's program also fared well in several of the specific categories the newspaper ranked. Weatherhead placed eighth among U.S. schools in the number of sponsored students, ninth for current salaries of its graduates, and ninth for percentage increases in salary after graduating from the program.

Beyond Grey Pinstripes evaluates full-time MBA programs in four areas: the number of courses with social and environmental content; the percentage of course time dedicated to considering social and environmental issues' how well courses illustrate the value of integrating social and environmental considerations into business decisions; and the number of relevant articles faculty publish in leading, peer-reviewed management journals.

The Beyond Grey Pinstripes survey is a joint program of the World Resources Institute and the Business and Society program of the Aspen Institute. Results of the survey are available at http://www.beyondgreypinstripes.org/.
