Immigration attorneys will conduct a workshop on work visas and green cards Friday, November 19 from 1-3 p.m. in Ford Auditorium. The presentation is part of International Education Week activities being held at Case.
Mark Rhoads, a partner in the Richmond, Va.-based global law firm Reed Smith, speaks regularly to university audiences, businesses and human resource professionals on immigration and employment issues. His focus includes the areas of visas and green cards for high technology personnel, international managers, executives and technical personnel. He will conduct the program at Case along with his colleague, Helen Konrad.
“The workshop is designed to explain to students the work visa options which are available after graduation…with plenty of time for questions from the audience,” Rhoads said. The topics will include:
- Optional practical training (for F-1 students);
- Academic training (for J-1 students and researchers);
- H1B visas; and
- Permanent resident green cards.
The workshop is sponsored by Case Western Reserve University’s Career Center. Eric Dicken, assistant director, said about Rhoads: “He has a gift for connecting with students and explaining very complex legal issues in a succinct manner.”
The program is open to Case students, faculty, staff and alumni. Rhoads and Konrad will be available after the session to answer individual questions at no charge. For more information, call Case Western Reserve University’s Career Center at 216-368-4446.
