Lev Gonick, Case Western Reserve University’s vice president for information technology services and chief information officer, was recently appointed chair of the CIO Executive Council’s higher education committee.
Launched in April 2004, the CIO Executive Council, a national, professional member-driven organization of chief information officers (CIOs), was created for the purpose of achieving lasting change within critical industry, academic, media and governmental groups. As chair of the higher education committee, Gonick will have broad oversight of the council’s strategies, goals and objectives as it relates both to higher education and the council’s broader mission.
“Committee chairs are crucial roles and represent a highly visible leadership position both inside and outside of the Council,” Mark Hall, general manager of the CIO Executive Council, and CIO of CXO Media, said in a statement.
Gonick’s leadership in this position will set the tone for the Council’s higher education strategy for years to come, according to Hall.
Since Gonick arrived at Case in 2001, the university has been recognized for its IT vision and leadership. It has won several national honors, including being named the top private college on Intel's “Most Unwired College Campuses” 2004 survey.
