Re: Promotion and Tenure Procedures 2005-06

This memo accompanies an application packet for the promotion and tenure cycle that will culminate in promotions and tenure awards to become effective July 1, 2006. These materials are intended to guide the process by listing and describing the documentation. You should provide the complete set of materials to each faulty member who will be considered for promotion and tenure. Please note changes in the number of external letters required and the format of the letter of request to evaluators and the requirement of a summary of each candidate’s teaching contributions.

Submit files to Lois Langell in my office on December 1, 2005 in electronic format. We will work as swiftly as possible to review the completeness of each package so that any incomplete applications may be returned to you, if necessary, with adequate time to ensure that, once corrected, they can still be considered during the current review year.

To help me plan for the internal review process, please submit the list of your promotion and tenure candidates and your suggestions of members to serve on the president’s advisory committee (PAC) before September 15, 2005. Each PAC will consist of tenured professors from Case from a school other than the one being reviewed. I ask that you recommend six tenured professors from your school.

We hope such corrections are rare.
