Located in The VSRC Consolidated Laboratory Space In the Institute of
Pathology
The imaging module has been divided into two major areas to better
meet the needs of researchers. The two areas are Digital Imaging and
Microscopy Based Digital Imaging. This division of this module allows
the personnel involved to utilize their areas of expertise to the fullest
extent. Researchers and their laboratory personnel can schedule training
sessions or receive direct assistance from the module manager.
The module manager maintains protocols to aid in training and
use of all module equipment. The module manager works with the
other modules to meet the imaging needs of investigators using
those facilities.
Digital Imaging Module
The purpose of this division is to provide advice, guidance and
training in the management of digital images, as
well as to provide highly specialized ophthalmic photography services.
This division assists Core Grant investigators in producing scientific
posters and publication quality graphics. Additionally a Certified
Retinal Angiographer is available to provide imaging of the anterior
and posterior segments of both large and small animals. This photographer
also provides general photography services to Core
Grant investigators.
This division of the module was created to meet the ever increasing
demand of microscopy based services by Core Grant
investigators. The VSRC has invested heavily in this division
of the module with an emphasis on being able to provide Core Grant
investigators access to experienced personnel and state of the
art equipment to meet not only live cell imaging needs but also
basic microscopy needs as well. Additionally, Metamorph image
analysis software is being used in the module to not only save
time and resources but also to generate reproducible results. Please refer to the Microscope Policy to best utilize this module.
