Meet the Lab

Pat Weitzel, BS

Richard Patrick "Pat" Weitzel is a predoctoral graduate student training in the Department of Pathology, who joined the Laughlin lab from the BSTP program in January 2005.  Originally from Indianapolis, Pat graduated with honors from Indiana University, Bloomington with a BS in Microbiology and a minor in Computer Science. Before coming to Case, Pat's research experience included identification and analysis of Interferon-stimulated genes. His current research comprises efforts to determine what observed differences in NFAT-associated proteins and transcription factors in umbilical cord blood versus adult blood CD4+ T-cells measured during primary stimulation may be directly attributable to NFAT1 expression, through use of small interfering RNA-mediated gene silencing in adult blood CD4+ T-cells.
