Division of Nurse-Midwifery
The Division of Nurse-Midwifery at MacDonald Women's Hospital employs Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who hold Master's degrees and have national certification. The CNMs hold clinical appointments in both the Department of Reproductive Biology of Case Western Reserve Medical School and the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing.
The CNMs of the Division provide personalized comprehensive maternity and gynecologic care to all women in the community including women with limited access to health care services. Nurse-midwifery care focuses on family-centered labor and birth care and postpartum care with support and guidance in breastfeeding. Nurse-midwifery care focuses on teaching not only patients but also RNs enrolled in Nurse-Midwifery and nurse practitioner education programs, medical students, and resident physicians.
Close collaboration with the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine provides clients desiring midwifery care, but with pregnancies at some increased risk for problems, with the best high tech care combined with the established relationship and trademark high-touch care of nurse-midwives.
