Women’s Health Center
The Women's Health Center is a busy MacDonald Women’s Hospital-based clinic that provides patient care by resident physicians under the direct supervision of the Ob/Gyn faculty, certified nurse midwives, and a women’s health nurse practitioner who works in collaboration with the OB/Gyn faculty. There are more than 18,000 patient visits per year to this clinic. Patients attending the Women's Health Center present with a wide variety of conditions ranging from routine prenatal and well-woman care to high-risk pregnancy, complicated infertility, or oncologic difficulties
The residents throughout their four years have a stable core of individual patients assigned to them and are able to forge close continuous therapeutic relationships with their patients. The nurse midwives provide continuity over years of caring to a large number of women throughout lower-risk pregnancies, the postpartum period, and the reproductive years. The women’s health care practitioner also sees lower-risk women for pregnancy and reproductive issues and does a large volume of abnormal PAP followups and colposcopy care with collaborating physicians.
