Adult Psychiatry
Small enough to be intimate while large enough
to offer a range of opportunities, the General Psychiatry training
program recruits the best and brightest graduates whose career
interests range from general practice to teaching and research.
Our residents experience a variety of training settings representing
academic, private, hospital and community-based mental health
practice under the guidance of nationally recognized experts.
First-year residents complete Primary Care and
Neurology experiences selected from options individualized to
anticipated career directions. The remainder of the PGY-1 and
-2 years are dedicated to mastering inpatient psychiatry skills
in a variety of settings, along with consultation/liaison and
beginning psychotherapy experiences.
The PGY-3 and -4 years feature longitudinal
ambulatory rotations in General, Community and Child & Adolescent
psychiatry. A wealth of psychotherapy training experiences are
supervised by an extensive expert faculty, while advanced psychopharmacology
training is supervised by the nation's preeminent clinical researchers
and clinicians. Elective opportunities encompass every imaginable
aspect of modern psychiatry.
