Ongoing Clinical Research Studies

We are currently conducting clinical trials to investigate whether a medication that is routinely used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes (e.g. pioglitazone) can reduce symptoms of depression, reduce abdominal obesity, and improve other aspects of the metabolic syndrome.

To be eligible for participation, you must be diagnosed with depression or bipolar disorder and meet criteria for metabolic syndrome. You will be assessed for these conditions at your clinical intake appointment. Answers to some frequently asked questions about participation in these research studies can be found below.  For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call 216-844-2869.
