About Us | Our Mission

The Discovery and Wellness Center for Children is pediatric research center housed within the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Our Mission is to compassionately conduct clinically meaningful research that will better the lives of children and adolescents suffering from psychiatric illnesses. We are mindful of the clinical needs of our patients, for this reason the research we perform is done in a safe and family-centered environment.

Our research team is committed to serving patients by providing greater medical knowledge to our community at large through fostering a better understanding on childhood psychiatric illnesses and by focusing our efforts on improving assessment procedures, preventative interventions, and therapeutic innovations.

We are currently offering several research based treatment programs for children and adolescents who suffer from problems such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and ADHD (also for adults) and Depression. All of these programs are provided at NO cost to the family.

Eligibility varies for each program.  We conduct a thorough intake process which will determine program eligibility.  If the patient is eligible, the treatment program may include a psychiatric evaluation, laboratory tests, and study medication. The family may be seen weekly or monthly depending on program protocol timelines and swiftness of response to treatment. A member of our clinical research team along with a child psychiatrist will see the family on every treatment visit. If the patient is ineligible, they will be given to opportunity to partake in our research registry. This registry allows the researchers to contact families for upcoming programs they may be eligible for. In addition, families will also be given quality community referrals.

If you know a child or family that might be interested, please have them contact our intake coordinator, Nicole Kovach, at 216-844-3922.
