DESCRIPTION

Case Western Reserve University’s NIMH Center for Bipolar Disorder is inviting applications for the position of Research Assistant. The primary objective of this position is to assist with a newly established, large multi-site U.S. Department of Defense led initiative. This project will study the relationships between pre-existing mental illness/substance use disorders, deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) or Operation, and post-deployment related mental health.

The research assistant will be responsible for the following: assisting with participant recruitment; assisting with screening participants for protocols; conducting follow-up assessments for participants; under moderate supervision, performing psychiatric assessments as assigned; assisting the Principal Investigator, Sub-investigators, and Operations Manager as needed; attending weekly staff meetings and other meetings as necessary; administrative duties may include, copying, filing. etc.; maintaining confidential documentation regarding the study and participants; field phone calls to the research center when necessary and triage calls to necessary staff.

Requirements: 0-3 months research experience; military experience ideal; Bachelor’s Degree, Psychology or Nursing fields preferred, or other related fields; basic computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office products; ability to multitask; effective communication skills; ability to take direction and constructive criticism.
