MOOD DISORDERS PROGRAM

at University Hospitals Case Medical Center

changing the lives of people and families through patient-centered research

The Mood Disorders Program is committed to providing expert care to patients and their families, while conducting research to advance scientific knowledge.

We believe that patients are best served by having a range of treatment options, tailored to fit patients’ needs.  Consequently, we provide medication therapy and psychotherapy based on the latest research.  We make treatment available in various formats, including outpatient, intensive outpatient, and inpatient.  We strive to make treatment decisions in partnership with patients.

We believe in a “team approach”.  We employ clinicians with diverse skills and credentials.  We work together to provide balanced care, with an equal emphasis on medications and psychological therapy.  Our hope is to help patients understand and recover from their conditions.  But we want more for our patients.  We hope that patients will improve their coping skills and develop lifestyles that support health and wellness.

We believe in scientific research.  Science has led to important advances in the treatment of mood disorders.  We conduct research that has direct relevance to people’s lives, with a special emphasis on complex conditions and underserved populations.  We hope that our research improves treatment as well as quality of life.  Finally, we train young researchers, as we believe that the future holds great promise for additional scientific advances.

In every endeavor, we believe in striving for excellence to help heal, educate, and discover.
