Advanced Practice Nurses working in community settings promoting practice-based research
APN-ARC network members have access to network studies and resources. Network members are the glue of a practice-based research network.
While participation in all research studies and network endeavors is entirely voluntary, members are notified of each upcoming study, with a strict opt-in policy. The goal it to offer and create research studies that are relevant to practice and to discover information and generate results that are quickly put into action, improving the quality of care as quickly as possible.
1. Why join a practice-based research network?
APN-ARC is a network developed specifically for advance practice nurses to research questions relevant to APN care and translate evidenced-based improvements in health care in the ambulatory setting. As a member of a research network, you will be offered opportunities to be involved in research that can impact the delivery of health care in primary and specialty care in the ambulatory setting. Participation can include posing questions, offering and seeking feedback about new study ideas, and/or conducting studies in your office. It is also an opportunity to network with nursing students, faculty, and colleagues from across Ohio.
2. If I join, do I have to participate in every APN-ARC study?
No. You will be notified of all upcoming studies, but you always have control of which study you would like to be a part of and your level of involvment. You are always free to withdraw from a study at any time.
3. How much extra time will it require from me?
This depends on each specific study. While some studies take minimal time, some studies may require training or other larger time involvement. Studies which require training courses are typically eligible for continuing education credits. Estimated time committment is always discussed upfront.
4. Can I suggest research ideas?
Absolutely. In fact, suggesting ideas for research is integral in developing a dynamic research network and is encouraged. You may submit ideas now by emailing APN-ARC.
