PBRN Shared Resource

The PBRN Shared Resource facilitates collaborations between primary care practices, communities, and academic investigators with the primary aim of generating and answering questions relevant to everyday practice. Team members specialize in forging partnerships that promote the translation of research into practice and emphasize the importance of practice-informed research.

History

Practice based research networks began in Northeast Ohio at Case Western Reserve University in 1992 with the initiation of the Research Association of Practices (RAP). This work led to the establishment of a PBRN core facility at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC) in 2004. The PBRN Core Facility was approved and funded by the National Cancer Institute in 2007. The National Institutes of Health funded a PBRN Shared Resource in 2007 through the Cleveland Clinical & Translational Science Collaborative.
