Practice Enhancement Associates (PEAs)
Practice Enhancement Associates (PEAs) are health professionals who develop relationships with practices over a period of time in order to help evaluate and improve quality of care. A PEA may also function as a research assistant, making it easier for practices to participate in research projects initiated by the practice or undertaken by the network.
PEAs can provide value to clinicians and their staff by assisting in identifying improvements the practice would like to make, providing insight into techniques used by other clinicians and sharing best practices, identifying resources, conducting quality assessments and improvement projects, or by offering instruction on information technology.
PEAs can help in the facilitation of research by training clinicians and support staff to follow study protocols, collecting data for studies, conducting chart abstractions and collecting new research ideas from clinicians or ideas to improve research protocols.
