    Recent graduates of our program have secured these positions after completing our individualized and flexible program.

        • The M. S. in Public Health Nutrition Dietetic Internship Program at Case Western Reserve University is the oldest in the United States; our program began in 1941! Our program combines coursework with practical supervised practice and is approved by the Association of Graduate Programs in Public Health Nutrition. The program is accredited as a dietetic internship by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association, 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, (312) 899-0040 X5400.

        • The mission of this program is to serve as an integral component of the Department of Nutrition's commitment to prepare entry-level dietitians, with a focus on public health/community nutrition. The program has 2 goals that reflect its mission: (i) train dietetic interns to practice as registered dietitians (RD) in public health/community nutrition and, (ii) equip graduates to command leadership and service positions in public health/community nutrition and the profession in general.

        • After completion of the program requirements, you will have earned a Master of Science in Public Health Nutrition and be eligible to take the national credentialing examination to become a Registered Dietitian (R. D.). Since the program began, we have awarded degrees to 430 students.

      There are three (3) Programs of Study available:

         1.  General Public Health Nutrition [link]

         2.  Specialty in Maternal and Child Nutrition [link]

         3.  Certificate in Gerontology [link]

          • A minimum of 30 credit hours is required for the Master of Science Degree for the Public Health Nutrition Internship Program.

          • A minimum of 1200 clock hours of SUPERVISED PRACTICE EXPERIENCE is part of the curriculum. This curriculum also includes a culminating 8-10 WEEK FULL TIME BLOCK EXPERIENCE.

          • The program length is generally 20 months (5 semesters) but can be individualized to accommodate part-time status for a maximum of 11 semesters or 44 months.

          • Students can begin coursework in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters.
