BACKGROUND
Mary Beth Kavanagh is a Registered
Dietitian who received her Bachelor of Science degree
(cum laude) in Nutrition and Dietetics from Kent
State University. She
received her Master of Science degree in Nutrition
from Case Western Reserve University and completed
her dietetic internship at University Hospitals Case
Medical Center.
She was President and owner of a private practice of medical nutrition therapy,
and developed a weight management program which she directed through Lakewood
Hospital. She has worked as a clinical dietitian in both hospitals and
physician offices
Mary Beth has extensive media and public speaking experience. She was a regular
guest on WEW TV-5's show "Morning Exchange". She continues to provide broadcast
and printed interviews for local media outlets, such as NPR, WEWS and WKYC.
Ms. Kavanagh teaches NTRN 437 - a graduate level course called "Evaluation
of Nutrition Information for Consumers" as well as NTRN 360 - "Guided
Study in Nutrition Practice". In addition,
she teaches NURS 201 -"Applied Nutrition for Nursing Majors" and DEND 379 - "Applied
Nutrition for Dental Students".

Mary Beth Kavanagh has held numerous elected offices in the Cleveland Dietetic
Association. She
is a member of the Ohio Dietetic Association, The American Dietetic Association,
and the Sports and Cardiovascular Nutritionists Dietetic Practice Group.
