Karen Fiedler received her Ph.D. in Foodservice System Administration from the University of Tennessee. She has been a faculty member at Otterbein College, Miami University and The University of Tennessee prior to coming to CWRU, where she is the Coordinator of the Dietetic Internship/Master's Degree Program in conjunction with the Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and University Hospitals Case Medical Center.

She has taught, conducted research and published in the areas of foodservice systems administration, dietetics, and sports nutrition.

 
Dr. Fiedler has served as President of the Ohio Dietetic Association, delegate to the American Dietetic Association, Chairman of the Commission on Accreditation and Approval for Dietetic Education, and as a member of the Board of Directors of ADA where she co-chaired the Retail Foodservice Task Force and the ADA/ASHFSA externship task force. She is an advisor to the Cleveland area Ohio Hunger Task Force. She is the CWRU faculty representative to the NCAA and University Athletic Association.

She has been an adviser to doctoral research in the areas of nutritional intakes of steroid and non-steroid using body builders; effect of dietary modifications on cirrhosis-induced insulin resistance; and determination of fitness indicators among university women.
