Each year approximately 200 inquiries are received both nationally and internationally. Five interns are matched from an average of 30 applicants.

Interns are selected on the basis of grade point average, previous work experience, letter of application, references, and personal qualities.

  • Each student must complete the Supervised Practice Program application prepared by ADA. The Application with instructions is available online. Prospective applicants may also contact Felicia Vatakis - UH CMC Program Director.

  • A brief, typed letter of application must accompany each application. The letter should be no longer than two pages and should include:

    1. Your reasons for entering the dietetics profession.

    2. How previous work and/or volunteer experiences have helped to prepare you for the future.

    3. Goals upon completion of the program.

    4. Reasons for choosing this program.

    5. Special qualifications for this program that distinguish you from other applicants.

  • An official transcript from every university or college attended.

  • Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree and Didactic Program in Dietetics Requirements or Verification Statement of Completion of Didactic Programs in Dietetics Academic Requirement. (These forms are provided and signed by your Didactic Program in Dietetics Director).

  • Three references from at least two professors in major field of study, preferably using the form included with the Supervised Practice Program Application prepared by ADA.

  • The Graduate Records Exam (GRE) is not required for entrance into this program, however results should be included with the application if you have taken the exam.

  • Photocopied materials are acceptable, however all signatures must be original.

  • Completed applications with $30.00 Internship application fee must be postmarked by the February deadline.

    If an application is not complete, an explanation must be provided because incomplete or falsified applications will not be considered.
