The metabolic core conducts all in vivo and ex vivo investigations on mice sent to CASE MMPC for the following procedures:
(i) placement of permanent vascular and/or gastric catheters
(ii) in vivo infusion or injection of (un)labeled substrates
(iii) blood and tissue collection and preservation
(iv) isolated organ perfusion (liver and heart)
Dr. Croniger, Dr. Puchowicz and their team work out the terms of the service contract, help the users file any necessary amendments to the existing blanket IACUC protocol of the CASE MMPC. They also plan for the shipment of mice to CASE MMPC. Furthermore, Dr. Croniger interacts closely with the Animal Core regarding the testing and quarantine procedures for all incoming mice, plans the transfer of mice to either the Metabolic or Metabolomic Core, oversees all in vivo and ex vivo experiments conducted by her team. She also maintains close contact with the administrative team to prepare the scientific reports and billing for services to users.
