The analytical Core conducts all assays involving the determination of isotope labeling and concentration profiles
of metabolites including:

          (i)    ²H-labeling of water, lipids and amino acids

          (ii)    the ¹⁸O-labeling of water

          (iii)   the concentration profile of acyl-CoAs (e.g. short, medium and long-chain species)

          (iv)   metabolic profiles of citric acid cycle intermediates, amino acids and fatty acids


Dr. Previs and his team work out the terms of the contract, help the users understand the nature of the assays, coordinate the planning studies done off-site and the collection and shipment of samples for analyses. The Analytic Core has a close interaction with the Metabolic Core to perform measurements of glucose, glycerol and/or amino acid turnover that are done in catheterized mice under basal and/or glucose-insulin clamp conditions.to prepare the scientific reports to users and the billing for the services.
