Research:
Gliomas stem cells (GSCs) are a neoplastic subpopulation within glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) that are capable of self-renewal and driving tumor propagation. GSCs have been demonstrated to play critical roles in therapeutic resistance, tumor angiogenesis, invasion, and metastasis. Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) have been shown to induce differentiation in GSCs, reducing their tumorigenic potential. My research is investigating the potential protective role of BMP antagonists within the GSC niche. |
