Research Interests:
Our lab have been successful studying dendritic cell HIV trans-infection in vitro. Trans-infection is the process by which a dendritic cell can transfer intact viral particles to other cells without themselves getting infected. My research focuses in understanding the in vivo importance of dendritic cell mediated trans-infection using human tonsils as a model for activated lymphoid tissues. The knowledge resulting from my research could provide new insights in the way we study HIV infections, and can suggest new therapeutic targets to interfere with HIV infection.
