Fred is currently studying the impact of hormonal contraception on HIV genital shedding in patients with early and with chronic HIV infection. He is also working on a viral fitness study, investigating the effects of viral fitness and host immune response in women newly infected with non-clade B HIV-1 isolates. In addition, he is analyzing drug resistance in Ugandan HIV patients treated with antiretroviral drugs. Outside of the lab, Fred enjoys travelling, volleyball, and reading.
