INFECTIOUS DISEASES OUTPATIENT CLINICS

The Infectious Diseases physicians provide treatment and management of acute infections, chronic infectious diseases and outpatient antibiotic therapy. Prior to scheduling a new patient consultation in the clinic, patients must have a referral from their physician indicating the diagnosis and reason for an ID consultation. We ask that patients have all appropriate medical records, laboratory tests and radiology results faxed to our office in advance. The fax number is 216.844.1632.

JOHN T. CAREY SPECIAL IMMUNOLOGY CLINIC

The John T. Carey Special Immunology Unit (SIU) was established in 1985 to address the growing need in our community for primary medical care for persons with HIV infection. Under the leadership of Director, Barbara Gripshover, MD, and the team of physicians, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, dietician, and onsight pharmacist, the SIU is the largest provider of primary care to individuals with HIV in northern Ohio and one of the largest in the Midwest. Our patients may also benefit from clinical trials through the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU), a leader in clinical treatment trials research for the management of HIV infection.

The SIU provides care to individuals with HIV regardless of ability to pay for services. For those that are un/underinsured, the SIU receives federal, state and local money to provide comprehensive primary medical care which includes but is not limited to:

  • Physician appointments
  • Radiology services
  • Dental care
  • Nurse care coordination
  • Case management
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Laboratory testing
  • Assistance with obtaining medications

All information at the SIU is strictly confidential. We realize the private nature of all patient information and make it our priority to maintain confidentiality. Patient charts and information are not shared with other health care providers without a release of information from the patient. Testing hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Tuesday evening HIV testing and selected doctor appointments until 7 p.m.
