Steps for the IRB Process

1. Study is created in IRB system. PI submits study for review.

2. IRB application goes to department review. Study is approved or changes are requested.

3. Study goes to Clinical Research Unit if appropriate. Study is approved or changes are requested.

4. Study goes to IRB staff for initial review. Study is approved or changes are requested.

5. Study is sent to either Exempt Review, Expedited Review, or Full Board Review.
