Community Involvement
Whether or not an organization is planning on doing an assessment of their services, reviewing community resources, or identifying a community need, getting the community involved in each step of the project is ideal. When community members have more invested in a project, they are more apt to keep the momentum going throughout the process, and perhaps helping to maintain sustainability of that project.
Minnesota Department of Health – Community Engagement
The Minnesota Department of Health provides a host of information on the benefits of community engagement, bi-directional communication, community engagement models and principles. It also helps you to assess the readiness of your organization to engage the community. There is much more useful information on this site. Available from http://www.health.state.mn.us.
