How do I apply?
Case Western Reserve University students should contact Michelle L. Champoir to set up an appointment to meet and turn in their paperwork and deposit.  After a permit has been issued, Case students will register for the class they choose via the SIS system.
All students should download the program application form from our web site and send it to the Department of Bioethics, along with their non-refundable $250 deposit.  Any inquiries should be directed to Michelle L. Champoir (MLN10@case.edu).

Non-Case students will also need to apply to Case Western Reserve University as visiting or non-degree students. Once they have been accepted, they will register for the class via the SIS system.  Non-Case students will be billed for the tuition and fees through Case Western Reserve University Bursar’s office.  The program fee paid to The Department of Bioethics for the cost of the course and travel is separate from the tuition and fees charged by Case Western Reserve University for the credit hours. Please see the instructions for visiting undergraduate students on our website http://www.case.edu/goabroad/

Undergraduate Cross Registration
Case Western Reserve University has joined other local institutions of higher education in a program of the NorthEast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE). Without incurring any additional tuition charges, full-time undergraduate students at the participating schools may enroll for one undergraduate course per term or semester at any of the other colleges or universities participating in the program in the Greater Cleveland area.
Please visit the cross registration web site for more information.
The participating institutions are:

Visiting Students
Both Undergraduate and Graduate Students from other colleges and universities must still fill out the International Bioethics Program Application, found on our web site, and submit the application to The Department of Bioethics.  Visiting Students must also submit an application to Case Western Reserve University in order to be accepted as a visiting student and be able to enroll in our Student Information System, receive credit for the course, and transfer those credits to their home institution.  More information about applying to Case Western Reserve University as a visiting student can be found on our website and below.

Undergraduate students from other Colleges and Universities

Visiting Student Application - FALL or SPRING Semester
A visiting student is defined as one who is attending another college or university and who wishes to transfer to that institution any credits earned at Case Western Reserve University. A visiting student need not file a formal application for admission, but must submit an Application for Enrollment as a Fall or Spring Semester Visiting Student.

Undergraduate Visiting Summer Students

Students not enrolled as degree candidates at Case Western Reserve University who wish to enroll in summer courses must submit a Visiting Student Summer Application. While applications are currently available, the review process will not take place until late-March or early April.

Graduate students from other Colleges and Universities
Graduate students from other colleges and universities will need to fill out an application to be a non-degree student to the Office of Graduate Studies at Case Western Reserve University.  Please follow the link provided above.

The Application and $250 non-refundable deposit must be received in the Department of Bioethics by  October 1st  for the Winter program, November 10th for Spring Break programs, and April 1st for Summer programs
We strongly recommend that you apply as soon as possible. Programs may fill to capacity prior to these deadlines.

A $250 non-refundable deposit is required.  Students MUST pay the entire program fee prior to the trip.  The deposit is applied to the cost of the program.

How can I get help paying for the trip?
If you are a Case Western Reserve University student and receive student loans, you are able to add the cost of the program fee to your student loans.  You should contact Nancy Issa (nancy.issa@case.edu) at the Financial Aid Office about adjusting your loans.  The Department of Bioethics will inform the Financial Aid Office of all students who register for the courses and provide them with a cost breakdown.  The maximum amount of the loan will cover all your travel, the program fee, and an additional $500 for meals and spending.

If you are a non-Case Western Reserve University student, please request financial aid from your home university.  If your university is unable to award you financial aid, contact Nancy Issa (nancy.issa@case.edu) at the Financial Aid Office at Case Western Reserve University to apply for loans.

Additionally, The Department of Bioethics at Case Western Reserve University offers small scholarships through the James Lovette Scholarship Fund to assist students with their travel.  The application can be found on our web site.  The application deadline is early December.
