An Asset Builder's Guide to Service Learning, Search Institute
This book, published by the Search Institute, gives an overview of service learning and demonstrates how service learning connects to the 40 Developmental Assets™. It provides a variety of helpful handouts to help guide you through all aspects of developing a service learning project.

At The Table
At The Table is a web-based organization that provides information about youth decision making. There are a variety of downloadable resources including a searchable database of youth decision making projects across the country.

Learn & Serve America
Learn & Serve is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service that supports and encourages service learning. Learn & Serve offers grants to K-12 schools and community based organizations to implement service learning projects. They also offer the Presidential Freedom Scholarship for students who have completed at least 100 hours of service.

Learn & Serve Ohio
Learn & Serve Ohio distributes Learn & Serve funding to K-12 schools in Ohio. They also sponsor special projects and offer a variety of publications for download including a training manual.

Learning In Deed
Learning In Deed was a four-year initiative funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. This initiative included the National Service Learning Commission (chaired by Senator John Glenn) which produced a report on service learning. The initiative also created demonstration projects, what is now the National Service Learning Partnership, and a research network which evolved into the Annual International K-H Service Learning Research Conference co-hosted by RMC Research.

Learning To Give
Learning To Give is an educational initiative which provides a variety of resources for teachers, parents, youth workers, and religious instructors on teaching youth about philanthropy. Resources include lesson plans, briefing papers on various philanthropic topics, and a quotation search engine.

Maryland State Department of Education
Maryland was the first state to mandate service learning participation as a graduation requirement. Much of the service learning work in Maryland was performed by the Maryland Student Service Alliance. This entity was dissolved in 2004 and its work became fully integrated into the Maryland State Department of Education. Many of the materials developed by MSSA are still available on their former website.

National Service Learning Clearinghouse
The clearinghouse is a program of Learn & Serve America and is the internet repository for all information about or related to service learning. Resources include on-site information, free downloads, links to other web resources, and hard copies available for borrowing.

National Service Learning Partnership
The National Service Learning Partnership is "a national network of members dedicated to advancing service-learning as a core part of every young person's education". It provides resources, publications, federal advocacy, and up-to-date information on service learning.

National Youth Leadership Council
The National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC) sponsors the Annual National Service Learning Conference. As part of the Conference, NYLC presents awards to service learning leaders. It also provides programs, services, and publications on service learning.

Schumer's Self Assessment for Service Learning
This tool can help anyone implementing a service learning initiative to assess the strengths and areas of improvement. It is worded for schools, but could be used by community based organizations as well.

Students in Service to America
This guidebook was produced as a part of the USA FreedomCorps initiative to provide an overview of service learning and additional resources for its implementation.

The Complete Guide to Service Learning by Cathryn Berger Kaye: Freespirit Publishing
This user-friendly publication is divided into two parts: a Service Learning Handbook and Service Learning Themes. The Handbook provides overview information on service learning and how to develop projects. The Themes provide activities, curricular suggestions, resources, project examples, and book lists for eleven different thematic service areas (such as animals, the environment, or literacy). There is also a CD-ROM available which includes customizable and reproducible versions of the forms and worksheets found in the book as well as additional resources. Portions of the book are also available for download from the National Service Learning Clearinghouse.

Youth On Board
"Youth on Board prepares youth to be leaders and decision makers in their communities and strengthens relationships between youth and adults through publications, customized workshops, and technical assistance." They provide an Organizational Assessment Checklist that can guide you through the issues associated with involving youth in decision making in your organization.

Youth Service America
Youth Service America's mission is "to strengthen the effectiveness, sustainability, and scale of the youth service and service-learning fields". They organize National Youth Service Day and provide a wealth of youth service and service learning resources, including awards and grants. SERVEnet is another program of Youth Service America that offers volunteer listings, newsletters, and other volunteering related information.
