Youth Committee Description
The Youth Philanthropy and Service (YPS) Youth Committee is a service-learning focused leadership opportunity for high school students (grades 9-12). The Committee is a diverse representation of students from Northeast Ohio.
Members who successfully complete the program are eligible to participate in the alumni Youth Committee group. Alumni members are responsible for new member recruitment, presenting the Outstanding Youth Service Award, assisting with the YPS Annual Workshop, and holding a leadership role for first year members.
Members of the YPS Youth Committee gain an understanding of philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, and service-learning. They are provided with opportunities to practice leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills. Members also identify a community need and develop a service-learning project for Global Youth Service Day. Through participation in the YPS Youth Committee, members interact with like-minded peers and learn of other service opportunities.
Meetings are held once a month on weekdays during school hours (a calendar will be provided to accepted members before making the final commitment). Members are responsible for transportation to and from the meeting site (RTA passes can be provided).
Selection Criteria
