The Certificate in Nonprofit Management consists of 15 credit hours of Mandel Center coursework, including one required course, Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector (MAND 401). Entering CNM students should enroll in MAND 401 during their first fall semester.
CNM students can choose their four remaining courses from the full Mandel Center curriculum, which is organized according to the following themes:
Please see the CNM program structure page for a listing of all Mandel Center courses. Please review the list of Fall 2009 courses and the course descriptions before you make your selections.
As a point of information, the designations "required" and "elective," which appear below the course listings for Fall 2009, pertain primarily to the Master of Nonprofit Organizations (MNO) degree curriculum. However, students in the Certificate in Nonprofit Management program should take note of these distinctions in their course selection planning because courses marked "required" are offered on an annual basis, whereas courses marked "elective" may only be offered in alternate years.
Mandel Center courses are offered in the late afternoon, evenings, and on weekends to accomodate working professionals. Each 3 credit hour course, except the intensive format courses, meets once a week for two hours.
Certificate in Nonprofit Management students are encouraged to register for at least 6 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring) and 3 in the Summer. Those who wish to accelerate their progress may consider combining an intensive format course (i.e. - one that meets for several full days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) with the Center's regular evening classes. Certificate students must complete all coursework within 2 years from the date of their matriculation.
