The AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland is an ever evolving organization due to the nature of the disease that drives its mission. Established in 1983, it is the oldest AIDS service organization in Ohio, founded at a time when antiretroviral therapies were still being developed and when HIV/AIDS often meant death within months of a diagnosis.
The Taskforce today serves as a primary provider in Cleveland of both community based HIV prevention education, and non-medical direct services to people living with HIV and AIDS. The AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland provides a compassionate and collaborative response to the needs of people infected, affected and at risk of HIV/AIDS. This is accomplished through leadership in prevention, education, supportive services and advocacy.
These services include: comprehensive case management and client advocacy; housing services, individual and group counseling and support; chemical dependency and recovery services; Ryan White Care Act assistance; social and recreational activities and referrals and linkages with other community and government sources of assistance. In addition to these services, the Taskforce offers a client Nutrition Program.
Most importantly, the AIDS Taskforce gives hope through its innovative quality of life initiatives that empower clients to do more with the time they have due to the improvements in medical care and treatment that extend their lives.
