The Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Case Western Reserve University seeks an editor for its journal, Nonprofit Management and Leadership. Now entering its 19th year of publication, NML is committed both to academic excellence and to advancing creative interaction between rigorous research and engaged practice.
The new editor, who will have earned significant distinction in the field of nonprofit management and leadership, will lead NML as it responds to rapid changes in its field and seeks to raise its profile among researchers and practitioners. The editor must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant academic discipline, have extensive experience in evaluating and working with research manuscripts and their authors, be able to work effectively with journal staff and editorial board, and manage journal operations efficiently.
The editorship of NML is a renewable three-year, part-time appointment of the Mandel Center. The editor might be based at an academic or, possibly, research institution anywhere in the U.S. or abroad. The editorial offices of Nonprofit Management and Leadership are located in the Mandel Center’s building on the campus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio; the publisher, under a contract with the Mandel Center, is Jossey-Bass/Wiley. The editor reports to the Executive Director of the Mandel Center, and works closely with the Managing Editor in the editorial offices, with the journal’s Editorial Board and its advisory groups, and with the Mandel Center’s faculty. Subject to final agreement, the Mandel Center expects that the editor will spend at least a few days at CWRU each year, both for NML editorial meetings and to engage with the Mandel Center’s faculty and students.
The Mandel Center will provide the editor an appropriate stipend, to be determined, as well as essential expenses—and, as noted above, will continue to provide NML’s primary editorial offices and the highly experienced Managing Editor.
