Treu-Mart Fellowship Program Continues to Grow
The Treu-Mart Youth Development Fellowship Program continues to grow in Cuyahoga County. Six cohorts of Fellows have concluded formal programming and an additional two cohorts are currently engaged in program activities, for a total of 120 Fellows. Five of those Fellows are currently enrolled or have taken courses at the Mandel Center.
The participation of Fellows has been sponsored by 79 different agencies/agency sites. In addition, representatives from more than 15 additional agencies have participated in alumni programming either as guests of Fellows or by invitation. Youth professionals in Cuyahoga County continue to apply to become Fellows in far greater numbers than can be accommodated in the program.
In addition to the Fellowship Program, Fellowship staff and alumni Fellows have been actively involved in MyCOM, a county-wide initiative whose purpose is to build the capacity of neighborhoods to implement strategies that will enhance opportunities for youth ages six to 18. A fee-for-service contract was awarded to the Mandel Center by Starting Point (a MyCOM administrative agency) to provide resiliency-based professional development for front line youth workers through the Treu-Mart Fellowship Program. This professional development program is called the Cuyahoga County Youth Work Institute; the first institute began in November 2008 (MyCOM was formerly known as the Cuyahoga County Youth Development Initiative).
