Student Highlights
Bryan Mauk, MNO candidate starting this fall, was featured in the Plain Dealer in May for his plans to buy homes in foreclosure that homeless people will work to renovate and resell. He also wants to open a drop-in shelter for the homeless. Mauk’s efforts will be assisted be a $40,000 award he received recently as part of the William E. Simon Fellowship for Noble Purpose. It's the top award given nationally each year by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute of Delaware. Read more about Mauk’s plans to help the homeless.
Linda Springer, CNM candidate and executive director of Cleveland Social Venture Partners, participated in The City Club of Cleveland’s program entitled New Approaches in Philanthropy: 21st Century Giving in Cleveland on June 19th. Download the podcast at www.cityclub.org.
Bo Yan, MSSA/CNM candidate, is a volunteer in Sichuan China where the huge earthquake happened. Bo helps with training local people who are willing to work for psychological assistance. She says the work is hard but very important. Bo looks forward to sharing more information about her experiences when she returns to Cleveland.
