Alumni Highlights
Lisa Baskin, MNO ’06, recently started working at the Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland as the Director of External Affairs. Lisa started at The Free Clinic in May and is doing their advocacy and communications.
Jeffrey M. Bowen, CFRE, MNO ’98, celebrated six years as Executive Director of Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity, was appointed to his second term as a Director of Greater Cleveland Community Shares, to his third term as a Trustee of Habitat for Humanity of Ohio and also recently served as a member of the Jimmy Carter Work Project house-building team in New Orleans, LA. During the past few months he has published articles in EarthWatch Ohio, Cool Cleveland, Live Cleveland, and Habitat Highlights and was interviewed for a segment on National Public Radio. In March 2008, Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity received the prestigious Dominion East Ohio/Inside Business Community Impact Award.
Shelley Green, MNO ’08, and husband Matt welcomed the birth of their daughter Lauren Elizabeth Green on June 17th.
Tim Logan, ACFRE, MNO ‘93, has been invited to speak at the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) International Conference in Chicago in September. Along with Pamela Pratt, CFRE, of Beaumont Hospital Systems, Detroit, they will present “Turning Grateful Patients into Donors.” Tim was also invited to present “Developing a Planned Giving Marketing Plan” to the Western Regional PG conference in CA in May and to the AHP Southwest Regional Conference in FL in June. Vickey Yates Milligan, MNO ’04, became a grandmother for the first time when her son and daughter-in-law welcomed the birth of Nora Jean Shoemaker on December 24, 2007. Vickey is very excited about her new job (Started June 7th) at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield, OH as the Director of Patron Services. The Theatre is in the middle of a very exciting Capital Campaign and wonderful things are happening there.
Sara (Franing) Sethna, MNO '05, married Hormazd Sethna, MA '03 and MPH '05 (and more notably Mandel Center Graduate Assistant) on May 24th, 2008 in Carlisle, PA. Sara is the Development Director for Bosler Memorial Library in Carlisle. She established the development office, taking the library from averaging just over $4,000 a year to over $300,000. She is now preparing the library to for a $6 million capital campaign. Hormazd has just completed a 20 month stint in India on a Gates Foundation grant researching HIV/AIDS in migrants. They are currently residing in Carlisle and looking for their next adventure.
Laurel Shoaff-Tranick, MNO ’94, welcomed a son into her family last year. Thomas Kelty Shoaff-Tranick is now walking, or rather running, to explore his new world. His parents hope he will accompany them on many service projects as he grows and learns about his world. Laurel continues to work with the Corporation for National and Community Service as a program specialist in the state of Ohio specifically managing a portfolio of Senior Corps and VISTA programs grants in the state, along with promoting collaborations partnerships and service opportunities among service and non-profit organizations.
Ronald A. Stewart, PhD, MNO ’96, traveled to Greece this past May with the Mandel School’s Travel Abroad Program.
Julie Weagraff, MNO '94, is the Director of Development for The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC). OFIC raises unrestricted, scholarship, and program funds for 34 independent colleges and universities throughout the state of Ohio.
Susan Zull, CNM '01, as of July 2008, resumed her own business, “The Write Solution,” which offers writing/editing services and project management. She is particularly interested in working with mission-driven non-profits. She hopes to reconnect with former clients and generate new business, and look forward to major ‘networking’ soon!
