AROUND THE CENTER:
Meet the Mandel Center's Newest Staff Members
Since moving to its new building, the Mandel Center has also had the pleasure of adding two talented and enthusiastic individuals to its staff. The Center welcomes Michele Murphy, MNO '93, as Director of Professional Development Programs, and Arlene Sheeran, MNO '99, as Director of Marketing and Development.
Michele Murphy was a consultant for the Mandel Center for ten years and she also served as Program Associate and Lead Facilitator for Leaders' Links, the Center's premiere professional development program for nonprofit leaders.
"I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to create connections between the Center and the nonprofit practice community," Michele commented. "We launched a high-impact series of professional development programs this academic year. The series provides learning and connection between our renowned faculty and practitioners around significant nonprofit issues. We continue to expand our peer learning program for nonprofit executives - Leaders' Links and Links for New Leaders - and we are looking forward to establishing other projects that will encourage more nonprofit leaders to join our growing learning community."
Michele has been an Adjunct Faculty member with Ashland University since 2002. She also served for 15 years as Executive Director for two Cleveland area nonprofits. During her tenure with Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County, Inc., she was the first woman named Person of the Year by the Cuyahoga County Police Chiefs' Association. Michele also started The Investigators' Task Force, an education/networking organization for law enforcement investigators from the federal, state, county and municipal levels.
Arlene Sheeran has an extensive background in both marketing and development, and has honed her skills in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Her experience includes designing and managing the development department for the Shaker Schools Foundation, serving as the Director of Community Services for the Visiting Nurses Association, as well as managing marketing and relations functions at Meridia Health Systems and the Ohio Dental Association. Arlene has also worked with a wide variety of nonprofit organizations on numerous projects as both a consultant and volunteer.
"Working at the Center, in such an inspiring atmosphere, is a wonderful opportunity to put into practice all that I learned as a student, and all my experience in the sector," Arlene said. "There are so many programs that are available to the community at large. I feel very proud to be a part of all that the Center has to offer."
