Alumni Highlights
Steve Bossart, MNO '01, has been promoted to Director of Leadership Giving at Akron Children's Hospital. He now oversees the division that raises more than $7 million for the Hospital's Foundation each year. He and his wife, Lorrie, reside in Akron.
Jennifer Chestnut, MNO '99, is excited to begin her 9th year as the Executive Director of the Hillel Jewish Student Center at Kent State University - - and to announce the Groundbreaking on their new facility in September.
Lauren (Cooperstein) Corduck, MNO '02, has been working for the past two years for NeighborWorks America (www.nw.org), a national nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities. Her role as Partnership Development Manager is to forge national partnerships with corporations and corporate Foundations. Last October, Lauren married Robb Corduck and they bought their first home in Boston this past April. Lauren and Robb are expecting their first child, a girl, on January 6, 2008!
Timothy S. Homan, MNO '95, is now working for Community Counseling Service, Inc.'s Midwest Division in Chicago.
Brett Katz, MNO '98, had a baby girl, Zoe Rose Resnick, on April 17th. Brett is also the Director of Development and External Relations at Bellefaire.
Martha Loughridge, MNO '99, started a new part-time job with St. Paul's Community Outreach this summer. As the Program Development Coordinator, it's her responsibility to raise funds to keep the outreach programs going. They have a drop-in Outreach Center and Outreach Program for Commercial Sex Workers. Their primary clientele are people who are homeless and sex workers. Initially they deal with the immediate and basic needs of people, including HIV prevention education. Once they get to know them, they work with them to access the system of social services and to support their making decisions that lead them off the streets. Another part of Martha's job is to network with other organizations in Cleveland. She would love to be in contact with other alumni who do work in this area. Amber MacKenzie, MNO '99, husband Donald, and 3-year-old daughter Isabella are delighted to share an addition to their family, Gabriel William MacKenzie, born October 4, 2006.
Patricia Mintz, CNM '99, has been promoted to the role of Vice President of Student Success for Cuyahoga Community College. It is a district wide role that focuses on collaboration among faculty, support staff and administration to provide a strong network of academic support for students college-wide.
Jennifer Dolin Olsen, MNO '01, had a daughter, Taylor Madolyn, on August, 23, 2007.
Valerie Raines, MNO '99, was recently appointed Senior Program Officer at KeyCorp. Valerie will develop strategic grants and enhance Key's philanthropic positioning and partnerships through its corporate giving program. Valerie joined Key from United Way of Greater Cleveland where she served as Program Director responsible for working with volunteer leadership and distributing grants to member agencies. She previously served as Vice President of Catholic Diocese of Cleveland Foundation and Director of College Guidance for Laurel School in Shaker Heights. Valerie is a member of The Foundation Center advisory board and the Harry R. Horvitz Foundation scholarship committee.
Ruth Kohorn Rosenberg, CNM '00, is the Student Mediation Coordinator in the Division of Student Life at MIT. It's the first time that they have had a full time person in this position and Ruth is in the enviable position of creating the program. She serves all 4,000 undergraduates and 6,000 graduate students. She will be teaching, providing resources, creating a peer mediation program and other responsibilities to be determined. Ruth moved to Cambridge from Providence in September.
Shareefah Sabur, MNO '93, was invited to do a plenary talk at the 2nd African Palliative Care Association Palliative Care Conference in Nairobi, Kenya in September. She will also leave Nairobi to go to the Western Cape of South Africa to do strategic planning with a nonprofit hospice there.
Jean Schultz, MNO '92, for the past ten years has worked at Cuyahoga Community College as Assistant to the Dean of Business, Math and Technology at the Eastern Campus, and as an Adjunct Instructor of Accounting at the College. Jean retired on October 1, 2006. She is involved in some traveling, volunteer work and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary Stanco, MNO '03, after four years with Humility of Mary Housing, Inc., became an associate with Cobalt Group, Inc. as of July 2007.
Sarah Stilgenbauer, MNO '96, is the Foundation and Government Relations Manager as of June 1, 2006 for Opera Cleveland.
Satoru Suzuki, MNO '02, has had a career in the medical field for 20 years. This April, Saturo switched companies to Cook Japan Inc, which is a subsidiary of an American medical devices manufacturer, working as a regional manager for Critical Care SBU (Strategic Business Unit). Satoru would like to dedicate efforts to enhance the Japanese Critical Care Medicine community in promoting new techniques as well as their products.
Lisa-Jean Sylvia, MNO '05, is the Program Director for City Fresh in Cuyahoga County.
