STUDENT CENTER
Student Highlights
Teresa Goldfarb, MNO candidate, since September 2006, has been working at the Cleveland Leadership Center as a Program Coordinator. The Cleveland Leadership Center was created in July 2006 to partner four existing leadership programs: Leadership Cleveland, Cleveland Bridge Builders, (i)Cleveland, and Look Up To Cleveland. Its mission is to engage a continuum of civic leaders committed to Cleveland's excellence and to serve as a catalyst for positive change in the greater community.
Will Goldstein, MNO candidate, began working in August as Program Director for (i)Cleveland, a partner in the Cleveland Leadership Center. (i)Cleveland works to attract and retain talented undergraduate students to Northeast Ohio by helping them connect to and make the most of meaningful internship experiences.
Darren Hamm, MNO candidate, is currently involved in two different independent study projects. The first project is a neighborhood discussion to develop a community-wide after school program. This is being designed to bring together nonprofits, social services, churches, parents, students, and residents, as well as our Councilman and local schools. Ideally this group will identify our existing neighborhood assets and resources and assemble a comprehensive collaborative network fostering youth development. Darren is also working in partnership with fellow MNO student Michael Palcisco to develop a resident-driven housing rehabilitation program. They are creating a community capacity map that identifies assets throughout this neighborhood (i.e. the wealth of local skills and talents of residents) to address the several hundred vacant and abandoned structures and create a forthcoming program and tool kit for community-centered rehabilitation and renovation.
Emily Hatch, MSSA/CNM candidate, is one of the recipients of this year's Mandel Scholars Award. The Mandel Foundation established this full tuition scholarship award to encourage leadership in the field of social work.
Calyn Patzer, MNO candidate, is the Associate Director of Development and Marketing at Near West Theatre, where she assists in several fundraising areas including corporate and foundation support, special event planning and execution, and Season Pass cultivation. She also manages marketing and media relations, as well as sponsorships and advertising campaigns.
