Ronna Kaplan, CNM '06, assumed the position of Interim Co-Executive Director of The Cleveland Music School Settlement as of January 1, 2007 and will continue in this position until May 21, 2007. She feels that the training she received through the certificate program has proven to be helpful in this transition. Also, Ronna has finished her first year as Vice President of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and successfully planned and chaired their most recent annual conference, November 14-19, 2006, in Kansas City, Missouri. She is now a candidate for President-elect of the AMTA.

A team of students from the Mandel Center and Dr. John Yankey helped kick off a strategic planning process and the organization continues to grow and help meet the needs of the ever increasing aging population. Please visit their newly developed website at www.elizabryant.org.
Charles Lawrence, MNO '03, executive director of the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby, has been appointed president and chief executive officer of the Cleveland Music School Settlement.
Yvette McMillan, MNO '01, Director of the Women's Division at Haven of Rest Ministries, is a certified trainer in Generational Poverty. This training is based on the book, Bridges out of Poverty, written by Ruby K. Payne, Ph.D., Phillip DeVol, and Terie Dreussi Smith. As a part of a new initiative at Haven of Rest, Yvette will be providing training to organizational staff. The training puts into perspective the norms that exist within the culture of poverty. These norms, similar to ones that exist within other economic classes, (i.e. middle class and the wealthy) are the driving forces in the lives of men, women and children living in poverty. These norms can often be in direct conflict with the norms of service providers thus impeding the provision of services to those in need. This training will enable staff to identify and understand these norms and work more effectively with clients to help them transition to a new life.
