Alesha Washington Named George Gund Foundation Fellow

Alesha Washington, MNO candidate, has been named the 2007-2009 George Gund Foundation Fellow. She has experience working in development positions with the Cleveland Orchestra and YWCA of Greater Cleveland.

Washington, who is scheduled to receive her MNO this May, graduated from Oberlin College with an undergraduate degree in sociology and a minor in gender and women studies.

"This is an amazing opportunity for me, as my dream has always been to work in the foundation world," Washington said. "I didn't expect something like this to happen until much later in my career. The fact that I get to do it now is a tremendous honor."

As part of her opportunity, Washington will work with each of the senior program officers on their funding initiatives and research. According to The George Gund Foundation, the Fellows program, started in 2004, provides an opportunity for promising young professionals to work inside the Foundation, an organization that plays an active role in supporting the civic life of Greater Cleveland and in various national policy deliberations that impact our community. Each fellow, selected from a nationwide pool of applicants, works at the Foundation for two years.
