MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Friends of the Mandel Center,
Once again, the Mandel Center is pleased to announce that it is ranked in the top ten in the nation for leading nonprofit management graduate programs by U.S. News & World Report. Through our exceptional graduate education programs, professional development opportunities, and research in the nonprofit sector, the Center continues to make a positive impact on nonprofit leaders and professionals around the world.
Spring is always an exciting time as we prepare for commencement activities and end-of-the-year celebrations. This spring, the Mandel Center will graduate 38 students from its various programs. You can read about some of our students' post-graduation plans in the Student Highlights article of E-Notes. This newsletter's already-accomplished Student Spotlight, Calyn Patzer, MNO candidate, will continue her work with Near West Theatre upon graduating. We also congratulate Alesha Washington, MNO candidate, who has been named the 2007-2009 George Gund Foundation Fellow. We applaud the members of this graduating class and are confident they will realize many wonderful accomplishments in their professional careers.
You will also find in this issue a Faculty Feature with Jean Kilgore, Senior Lecturer of Marketing and Policy Studies, as well as updates on the work of our other outstanding faculty members in Faculty Highlights.
As our Alumni Spotlight, Nicole Crawford, CNM '00, shares with us her experiences living in South Dakota, where she is currently the Director of Dacotah Tipis, a Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Read more about the Center's other successful graduates in the Alumni Highlights portion of E-Notes.
The Mandel Center's YPS Annual Workshop, after being rescheduled from its original February date due to inclement weather, was held on April 5 with over 200 attendees. At its Nonprofit Awards Luncheon on June 6, the Center will honor Steven Raichilson, Executive Director of Menorah Park Center for Senior Living, and Entrepreneurs for Sustainability, winners of the Leadership in Nonprofit Management Award and the Organization Innovation Award, respectively. Read more about these and other exciting Mandel Center events in this issue of Nonprofit E-Notes.
Construction progress on our new building is coming along very well and we are expected to occupy our new home in August. A building dedication will take place on November 5, 2007. Additional details for that event will be forthcoming.
Best wishes for an enjoyable and productive summer.
Sincerely,
Susan Lajoie Eagan
Executive Director and Mandel Professor
