YPS Announces Keynote Speaker for Annual Workshop

The Mandel Center's Youth Philanthropy and Service program announces that Colonel Robert L. Gordon, Senior Vice President of Civic Leadership at City Year, Inc. will be the keynote speaker for the 2007 YPS Annual Workshop.

A former White House Fellow who helped develop the AmeriCorps national service legislation, Colonel Gordon came to City Year following a distinguished 26-year military career, most recently as the Director of the American Politics Division of the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy at West Point, of which he is also a graduate.

Colonel Gordon has served as a Center for Public Management Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He also co-founded Service America, a program that brings together cadets at West Point and AmeriCorps members to address unmet needs and share ideas on public service, leadership, team building, and conflict resolution. The 11th Annual Workshop will be held at the Holiday Inn in Independence, Ohio on Wednesday, February 14, 2007. The Workshop provides K-12 teachers and administrators, youth development professionals, and K-12 youth with an opportunity to learn best practices and hear about local projects.
